I am not the typical life coach. I am now a strong woman, actively involved within church, a great mother, a support group facilitator for trauma survivors, an author, and a life coach. This is who I am now. However, my life was not always glorious and rosy.
I have a colorful past that has included substance use and prostitution. There is no way to sugar coat my past and I believe in being upfront and honest. If my past disturbs you, it is still ethical for me to inform you upfront so you have the option to find someone you consider better suited. Some of my unique insight, skills, and ability to not judge others came directly from my old life. It was what it was, and now I am a new creation in Christ.
The above confession alone is proof that I understand tough to discuss taboo situations, and I understand change. Through much determination, hard work, prayer, opportunity, and conversion, I was able to see my goals and achieve them. My master’s degree in pastoral counseling with a specialization in addiction and recovery was achieved with highest honors, I have corporate experience deescalating mental health crisis cases, I still work within Christian-based trauma recovery, and I hold many faith-based coaching certifications. Faith plays an essential role in my life, as does follow-through. I believe most big changes require both.
Even though I do hold a Biblical worldview, I often attract those who do not. I was an atheist before I became a Christian and people feel comfortable with me since I do not push my beliefs. I can incorporate Scripture if you find it useful, or we can discuss values and desired changes without discussing Scripture at all.
